GRiP v4.0 User Group
Welcome to the RPGRealms.com GRiP User Group! Currently this group is dedicated to the final development of the GRiP Gaming System (aka GRiP 4.0) during its beta cycle. At the same time we'll also be developing the group and its contents to support users with documentation, tips, and other resources once GRiP4 goes "gold".
A Few Handy Links
Bugs or errors you might encounter should always be reported via the link above. If you have questions about using GRiP4 then you should ask your questions in the proper discussion forums instead.

Snapshot Character Generation
A screen capture of a custom character generator window for use with Snapshot. Clicking the "Generate" button on the main character sheet will begin the scripted and automated steps of generating a character using the Snapshot rules. When input is needed from the player such as in the screen shot here, a custom popup dialog is displayed, the data taken, and the character generation continues.
GRiP Character Sheet Example
A screenshot of a GRiP Character Sheet in preview mode in the GRiP Object Builder IDE. This sheet is fully programmed, automatically updating the appropriate data as Ability scores, etc., are updated. The scripting code behind the sheet is all in VBScript and a mere 170 or so lines of code (with plenty of blank lines and spacing for legibility). The could easily be expanded to incorporate further scripting for automatically calculating Stamina, Liveblood, Base BABs, etc., based on other data on the sheet.
Scripting GRiP Objects
One of the most important features of the GRiP Gaming System is the ability to write your programming scripts, using Microsoft's VBScript, that will allow your GRiP objects to react to certain actions. Through scripting you can also interact programmatically with other objects within the game.

What is GRiP?
By Hunter Gordon
So you've heard about this thing called "grip", but have no clue what it is or what it could possibly have to do with gaming, right? It's a pretty weird name, I agree, but it's an acronym for Gaming Resource for Internet Players, or GRiP for short. Why the little 'i' in GRiP? Honestly, I couldn't tell you. We like it. And it make things more 'trademarkable' that way.

Download and Installation
Downloading and installing GRiP is very simple. Visit the GRiPNet Installation page and click the Install GRiPNet Now link towards the bottom of the page. This will prompt you to accept the download of a small setup.exe file to your computer. Once the download is completed it should automatically begin the actual installation process. Follow the instruction as you are prompted and the program will handle downloading the rest of the program and install it on your computer.
GRiPNet and RPGRealms
You can easily set GRiPNet to log you automatically into the RPGRealms website if you have an account there. Go to the GRiPNet -> Settings link and enter your RPGRealms.com username and password in the appropriate spaces provided. You'll need to restart GRiPNet for these settings to take effect. Once set you'll automatically be logged into the website whenever you start GRiPNet. Currently these settings are global in that they affect all profiles.
Routers and Firewalls
This is likely to be the most common problem you will run into when trying to use GRiP, getting through your system's firewall and/or router. Users are free (and encouraged) to add your own solutions for various operating systems and routers in use, but it is difficult for us to provide any official or concrete details due to the sheer number of possible combinations of software involved. But there are a few bits of information we know you will definitely need and a few suggestion we can give you on getting GRiP configured to work with your hardware and software.
Troubleshooting
This section should hold pages discussing common problems that users may run into and what can be done about them.
GRiPNet User Manual
This document should be considered a constant work in progress. You as members of the GRiP User Group can help maintain and expand this manual as well. You have full access to add and edit pages within this guide. Please be responsible when doing so as abusing this privilege will result in your banning from this group and quite possibly the site as well.
GRiP4 - The Latest...
As noted in my other blog, I've spent most of the last month rebuilding the RPGRealms website into this new fangled site we have now. Personally I'm rather pleased at how it's coming along, but that's not what this blog post is about. You're interested in GRiP. Don't worry, so am I!

Do Not Report Bugs Here
Please note that this forum is not the place to report problems, errors or bugs. Instead we ask you to use the GRiP Issues Center to report all problems. This way we are able to maintain a central place for all reports to be issued, logged, and tracked as opposed to having to hunt through the forums.
